From the now silent Rosebank distillery, this 30 year old whisky was distilled in 1989 using a refill sherry hogshead (cask #2561).

This was bottled in 2019 by Gordon and MacPhail for their Connoisseurs Choice range which has a limited release of only 175 bottles.

Distillery Tasting Notes:

Nose – Intense honeysuckle and stewed fruit aromas are complemented by sweet honeycomb and fresh cut grass. Tart orange marmalade develops with undertones of raspberries covered in rich milk chocolate.

Palate – Floral and herbal notes transform into aniseed with a slight chilli edge. Sweet honey and orange zest flavours with traces of grass lead to roasted coffee and golden syrup.

Finish – Long with lingering spice, aniseed and a rich sweetness.

Distillery Location
Rosebank - 30 Year Old (1989) Gordon & MacPhail (Connoisseurs Choice)'s home is Rosebank distillery, in Scotland.

The Rosebank distillery was situated in Camelon on the banks of the Forth and Clyde canal between Edinburgh and Glasgow. Its name originated after the roses which grew along the side of the canal.

Rosebank was once considered one of the premier lowland whiskies but United Distillers mothballed the distillery in 1993.  The reason given for the mothballing was that its effluent treatment would have required a £2m upgrade in order to comply with European standards of the time, this did not make it commercially viable. At the time of its closure, it still retained many historical features in the production of the whisky.
