Macallan is well known for producing some of the worlds most sought after whisky and with over 200 years of distilling history behind them, it's no wonder. So here are some top answers to your questions, breaking that 200 year history down into bite sized chunks.

What sets Macallan apart from other Whiskies?

Macallan is renowned for its commitment to traditional craftsmanship. Whisky is of course subjective. However, Macallan has a heritage in crafting exceptional whiskies going back over 200 years. Offering a luxury range of whiskies sitting across different; ages, colours and flavour notes to suit your taste preferences.

Macallan is considered as one of the leading and most popular names in whisky available.

Macallan whiskies get their colour naturally from the wood in the casks they're matured in. It's the same practice used since Macallan was founded in 1824. This doesn't just effect its colour, it adds to the prestige of a Macallan whisky but also its flavours.

How best to enjoy a Macallan whisky?

You'll often hear that a whisky should only ever be enjoyed neat. However, we're firm believers that if you're going to invest in a great whisky like a Macallan, you need to be able to enjoy it. If enjoying your whisky means 'on the rocks' or by diluting with small amounts of water, then we say go for it! Savour every sip.

James Bond's favourite whisky has changed over the years, much like the character himself. However, Daniel Craig in Skyfall was served a neat Macallan 1962. Macallan also released a limited edition collection of Bond inspired whisky.

The History Of Macallan

Although operating under different names and owners over the years, Macallan have been distilling and crafting excellent whisky since 1824. Although, it's believed an illegal distillery operated before this.

Originally incorporated by Alexander Reid in 1824, The Macallan Distillery has changed owners and names a few times over its history but is currently owned and operated by Edrington.

The Macallan Distillery is based in Speyside, Scotland and has been ever since it's inception. Even to this day, the newly created distillery and visitors centre, which opened in the Spring of 2018, are based at the original location in Speyside.
