Ben Nevis Distillery is a distillery in Scotland that distills Ben Nevis 10 Years Old and Ben Nevis 21 Years Old whisky. It is located at Lochy Bridge in Fort William and sits just at the base of Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the British Isles, which rises to 4,409 feet above sea level.

A coastal distillery in the Western Highlands, Ben Nevis draws its water from the Allt a’Mhuilinn which originates from two pools, Coire Leis and Coire na’Ciste. Founded in 1825 as an independent enterprise, it has been owned by Nikka Whisky Distilling of Tokyo, Japan, since 1989.

Ben Nevis, 14 year old 2010 Thompson Bros.

Ben Nevis, 14 year old 2010 Thompson Bros

    Cask - Refill Hogshead.

    ABV - 51.3%

    Color- Pale, Light Lemon.

Non- chill filtered, No color added.

Nose: - Very closed nose at first, then it really starts to open up, bright pineapple, vanilla, creamy caramel, sweet pineapple candy, mineral, that Ben Nevis funk ( kind of fruit that’s off a bit) and maybe it’s from the Brewers yeast they use?

Taste: - Oily, very nice caramelized, grilled pineapple, grilled caramelized blueberries with salty soy sauce.

Finish: - Sweet tropical fruit, lots of wax, limestone dust ( in a good way) apples and grapes, vanilla yogurt, a little nutmeg and salty vanilla.

    Score: 89/100.

What a great Ben Nevis. My first Thompson Bros. bottling. I will be looking out for more of their offerings.
