The Dalmore Quintesscence was initially matured in American oak ex-bourbon casks before being matured for a further five years in five different Californian red wine casks (Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon) hand selected by Richard Paterson. The Quintessence marks his fifty years in the industry.

Dalmore - Quintessence's home is Distillery Location distillery, in the Highland region of Scotland.

"The Dalmore" Distillery is located in Alness, which is 20 miles North of Inverness. It sits on the banks of the Cromarty Firth overlooking the Black Isle, the "big meadowland", from which it takes its name.

The Dalmore distillery is owned and operated by Whyte and Mackay Ltd, which is owned by Philippines based Emperador Inc.
