The recollection series from Gordon & MacPhail features rare single malts that celebrate the character of closed or long-time silent distilleries.  

This Glen Albyn was distilled in 1979 and filled into a refill sherry puncheon (#3857) on the 19th of September.  It was bottled on the 9th of January 2023 with an outturn of 95 bottles.

Glen Albyn - 1979 (Gordon & MacPhail Private Collection) The Recollection Series #2's home is Distillery Location distillery, in the Highland region of Scotland.

Glen Albyn was founded in Inverness on the site of a ruined brewery / malt kilning 1846 by James Sutherland, a local landowner and Mayor of the town. Work was completed and the license awarded in 1847, but the distillery ran into difficulties (including a fire in 1849 which necessitated rebuilding work for around a year) and fell silent in 1855.
